The Tolowa tribe is my focus of study; situated in Northern California and Southern Oregon, this tribe has survived for generations and will endure for many more. The traditions of this tribe and many of its cultures are intact and practiced today. The history involves much conflict and struggle here locally as I moved to an area near Tolowa lands I heard or read about local battles with Tolowa and chose to study this tribe. I hope to uncover and share unique traditions, values, and beliefs of the Tolowa relating to either life experiences or death, and how this tribe expresses itself.
